Talking to people who know what you are going through can be a very healing experience. Many of the difficulties that people experience may be addressed in group psychotherapy. In fact, group psychotherapy is often a preferred mode of treatment. These difficulties may include dissatisfaction with family relationships, work, social, or romantic life; emotional problems such as depression and anxiety; and stress related to sexual identity, substance use and abuse, as well as HIV prevention. Although individual challenges may be varied, group members often enjoy some commonality with other members.

AIDS Family Services’ group psychotherapy sessions are designed as on-going and open. “On-going” means that the length of a person’s membership varies from one member to the next, but that the group continues indefinitely. “Open” means that new members may join as vacancies exist and as current members end their group treatment.

If you have a concern that you would like to address in one of the support groups listed below, please call our office to make an appointment for an intake interview at 716-881-4612.
